Aye Cycle Glasgow is an online hub for all things cycling in and around the city of Glasgow.

We launched in June 2019 to profile cycling organisations and services across Glasgow. Here you will find easy to navigate Glasgow-based information about accessing a bike, learning to ride, improving your skills, cycle safety, and keeping your bike running and secure.

We also have information on getting out and about and involved in rides, events and more around the city, as well as stories from everyday Glasgow cyclists. So whether you want to cycle to work, campus, school or simply for fun, there are so many benefits you can experience and enjoy by simply getting on a bike.

All the services and activities featured are offered by charities and community based organisations who specialise in the promotion of cycling.

Cycling in Glasgow

Glasgow invests in cycling and is seeing the benefits. Across the city, positive change is happening and there is plenty of public support to do more. Sustrans’ Walking and Cycling Index 2023 report found that:

• There are substantial benefits to Glasgow from people walking, wheeling and cycling: preventing 1400 serious long term health conditions, saving 24’000 tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions and creating £453.8 million of economic benefit each year.
• There is potential for more people to cycle: 17% of Glasgow residents currently cycle at least once a week, and  44% of residents want to cycle more. 
• However, there are inequalities in terms of access to cycling, and feeling safe while cycling across gender, disability and socio-economic groups. To combat this, many organisations in Glasgow offer free access to cycles, adapted cycles and gender specific services. 
• There is public support to make more cycling happen in the city: 47% of residents want to see more money spent on cycling and 66% support the creation of more low-traffic neighbourhoods.

The city has over 300km of cycle lanes including the city’s current City Ways. We also benefit from the Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome and the Bikeability scheme teaching children to cycle. Across Glasgow you can join one of many led rides for adults and families, with rides suitable for all ages and abilities organised almost daily! Glasgow is really committed to ensuring cycling is for everyone.

A Collaborative Approach 

Glasgow has lots of information, experience, and activity to help people get into cycling, and sustain those that already are. Prior to the launch of Aye Cycle Glasgow, there was no platform that captured this information in one place.

Aye Cycle Glasgow evolved from conversations with service users, cycling partners, travel networks and forums in Glasgow, and consists of several partner organisations who came together to capture all things cycling related in an online hub.
